Dan Savage Biography
The author Dan Savage was born on October 7th, 1964. More importantly, in 2010, he established the It Gets Better Project, which is an online campaign to encourage and inspire young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ).
After spending his childhood in Chicago, Savage moved on to further his education at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. When he was still living in Madison, Wisconsin, a buddy told him about an exciting possibility in Seattle: the beginning of an alternative newspaper known as The Stranger. At the time, he was interested in moving to Seattle. Because Savage remarked in passing that every newspaper needs to have an advice column, he was given the opportunity to write one despite the fact that he did not possess the necessary qualifications. “Savage Love” was initially published in 1991 with the intention of being satirical, with the openly gay Savage making fun of the stereotypes that are common in straight advice columns.
